Turning Off the Noise and Finding the Good — An Unexpected Human Reflection

Updated: Jul 2, 2025

Let’s be honest: the world is loud right now.

Every day, we’re surrounded by headlines, opinions, politics, division... more noise than our hearts were meant to hold. It’s easy to get swept up in it all, to feel heavy and tired, to wonder if we’ll ever feel connected and hopeful again.

But here’s what I’ve been learning (and maybe you feel this too): we can choose to turn it down.

Not because we don’t care. Not because we’re ignoring the hard things. But because constantly carrying the weight of the world doesn’t make us better humans—it just wears us out.

Here, in this Unexpected Human space, we believe in finding the good. In noticing the small, beautiful moments that still exist—quiet acts of kindness, a moment of laughter, a soft sunrise that reminds us: life is still full of hope.

So how do we turn down the noise?

We start by giving ourselves permission. Permission to step away from the endless scroll. To turn off the news for a while. To say no, thank you to conversations that only divide and exhaust us.

And then—we intentionally seek the positive. We choose to fill our hearts and minds with what lifts us up:✨ A walk outside, soaking in the beauty of the world.✨ Time spent with someone who makes us feel seen.✨ Music that stirs the soul.✨ Stories of people doing good in small, everyday ways.

It’s not about pretending everything is perfect. It’s about remembering that even in an imperfect world, goodness is still here—and we are allowed to lean into it.

If you’ve been feeling heavy lately, maybe today’s the day to pause... to breathe... to gently turn down the noise and open your heart to something softer.

Let’s choose connection over division. Hope over despair. A quiet heart over a loud, anxious mind.

You’re not alone in this. We’re all navigating it together—one breath, one choice, one moment at a time.

❤️ From one unexpected human to another.
